HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR SHOOT

The best thing you can do to prepare for your shoot is to not worry about your shoot! You're going to make sure you (and family) are clean and in cute clothes, right? Everyone will be fed and had naps if needed. Check!

Seriously though, if I could think of the best advice for a successful shoot (outside of the obvious mentioned above) is to make your day happy before you get to me. Life happens, for sure, but if you can have happy moments throughout the day, all of you will be in a great mood when you get to the location. If someone wants to complain or try to push your buttons, blow their mind and go give them a hug instead. Plan your day early so you're not scrambling at the last minute.

Which leads me to the next question: What to Wear! You definitely want to choose outfits that represent YOU. And something where your crew can let loose and be silly...so comfy is key! Pick a color and blend it with others. You can see a lot of examples of my current clients on my Portfolio page. Better yet, go  to Pinterest, type 'clothes for family pictures' in the search bar. Voila! I have no problem making you a Pinterest board for a little inspiration! Just shoot me over a base color, and I'll get it right over to you.

At the shoot, if your kiddo has a favorite book or teddy, bring it. It doesn't have to be in every picture, but maybe a couple so you can look back and say "Man, he sure did love that teddy!". And Dads, you're not alone when I say taking family photos is not y'all's favorite thing to do in the whole wide world. But I promise it will be done before you know it. And that beautiful wife of yours and those amazing kiddos will be documented for years to come just as they are today. And one day you'll look back with a tear in your eye because you will remember that time we all went out to a field where you tickled your youngest belly and kissed your wife and it was a good day.
